Privacy policy

We collect very little, we sell nothing, and we have no account system. Here is exactly what happens to your data.

What we collect

Nothing, if you just read

There is no account system on this site, no login, no newsletter signup and no stored shopping basket. If you read a page and leave, we hold no personal information about you beyond what the analytics below records.

If you use the contact form

We receive the name, email address, topic and message you submit. That email is delivered to our inbox and we use your address only to reply to you. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not share it, and we do not sell it. The form also records the moment it was loaded and your IP address, which are used solely to block automated spam submissions and are not stored beyond that purpose.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked, in aggregate. It records things like page paths, approximate location, device type, referring site, and events such as clicking an affiliate link or submitting the contact form. We use it to decide what to write next and what to fix.

Google Analytics sets its own cookies and processes data under Google’s privacy policy. You can prevent it entirely with a browser extension, a tracking-blocking browser, or Google’s own opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site requires analytics to work.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site pass through our own /go path and then on to Amazon with an affiliate tracking parameter attached. Amazon uses that parameter, and its own cookies, to attribute a purchase to us. We never see your order, your payment details, your address, or what you actually bought — only an aggregate commission report. Amazon’s handling of your data is governed by Amazon’s privacy notice. Hosting and logs

This site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp) for operational and security purposes. Email from the contact form is delivered via Microsoft Graph on Microsoft’s infrastructure.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
  • We do not run advertising networks or behavioral ad targeting on this site.
  • We do not run a newsletter, so there is no list to be on.
  • We do not build profiles on individual readers.
  • We knowingly collect nothing from children under 13.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. The cookies present on this site come from Google Analytics and, after you click through, from Amazon. Blocking them in your browser does not break anything here.

Your choices and rights

  • Opt out of analytics using any tracker blocker or Google’s opt-out add-on.
  • Ask what we hold about you, and we will tell you. In practice, for almost everyone, the answer is nothing beyond aggregate analytics.
  • Ask us to delete a contact-form message and we will delete it from our inbox.
  • Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA. Exercise any of them by emailing contact@shiftandsole.com — we will not ask you to prove residency first.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We do not make changes retroactively.
